Ravi Aranke

Hi,

It's interesting to read about your approach. I started at the other end: at python, then tried to shoehorn problems into numpy/scipy but then discovered R and has been much happier. I have settled on what you describe as path 1: scrape / clean data in python, write to csv or sqlite and then work in R.

Cheers,

RK

Hi Ravi,
Thanks for your comment.Yes, I am going the opposite path. My experience of working with S3/S4 classes in R is also one of the reasons for gravitating towards Python. Somehow I am not motivated to code any classes in R. May be I should get over it someday. At the same time I am realizing that developing an OOPS based library is so much convenient in Python.

Hi Ravi,

Your blogs are interesting. Have subscribed to them. Looking forward to your blog posts.

Also thanks for the idea of comparing notes. Will get in touch with you, once I learn some basic Python stuff and graduate from a naive programmer to at least an okish programmer.
